Heart Mountain Horseshoe and Ridge south

The route up Heart Mountain begins with a steep ascent in which most of the elevation is gained.
There's a solid boot-worn trail, and it's easy to follow most of the way.
There is one short step that earns this trail a 'Moderate' scramble rating to ascend a rockband. No exposure, but much polishing.

Heading out beyond the first summit.

Jeff hikes along the ridge.

A ways to go yet down the ridge. Grant MacEwan Peak and the Twin Towers lie ahead.

We decided not to continue down the crux downclimb here and instead finish with the loop.
